Strong enough for Friends

Training strength, technique and good form have practical purposes.  My coach, Emily Socolinsky at Fivex3 Training in Baltimore, wrote a great post about this.  It is important to be strong enough to help those we care about when emergencies arise.  For some with chronically ill family members, this concern is very real.  For others it seems far removed.  I decided to take Emily up on her challenge to train myself to be strong enough to carry an "unconscious" friend to safety.  Here is the result.  My friend Tim has 11 inches and about 45 pounds on me.  For those who have ever trained human carries, those in the military or fire and rescue, this probably seems totally easy.  For those who have never been trained to be functionally strong, this may seem impressive, but trust me - it's totally trainable.
